As we commemorate Earth Day this year, it’s an important moment for all of us to reflect on our environmental responsibilities and the impact our actions have on the planet. At Enovix, recognizing the significance of this day goes beyond mere acknowledgment; every day our team is working tirelessly to build a better, more sustainable battery to power the technologies of the future.
Our 2023 Sustainability Report, which was published this week, underscores our commitment to running our business responsibly and building and manufacturing a breakthrough product designed to redefine battery technology. The crux of our environmental commitment lies in our pioneering work to develop and scale a 100% active silicon battery with high energy density and cycle life, setting a new standard for energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. Our batteries — designed for a wide array of applications from consumer electronics to electric vehicles — aim to reduce the carbon footprint of our customers’ operations and products.
In addition to publishing our Sustainability Report, I am proud to share that we achieved a “B” rating in our first CDP Climate Change report, which disclosed 2022 energy use data metrics and GHG emissions. This achievement reflects our commitment to transparency and is a great milestone in our sustainability strategy.
Additionally in 2023 our team:
· Initiated a Climate Scenario Analysis to identify climate-related risks and opportunities, underscoring Enovix’ proactive approach to sustainability.
· Signed an agreement to formalize our recycling and recovery program to maximize reuse, improve recyclability, and reduce premature disposal as we scale to high-volume production.
· Collected energy use data in 2023 at our Fab1 factory in Fremont and initiated the collection of energy use data at our Korean and Malaysian operations in late 2023.
· Published a Task Force for Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Index for the first time, which is included in our 2023 report.
· Our board, management team and ESG Steering Committee aligned with the Responsible Business Alliance, which embeds requirements to uphold and ensure respect for the environment, health and safety and human rights.
